The Caverns of Time - A One Fieldtrip
Last changed: Oct 02, 2006 05:14 by Elsheindra Labels: cavernsoftime, pictures
Back at the beginning of July, Tarandor told us he knew of a way to get into the Caverns of Time, a new multi-instance area that's supposed to be part of a future WoW expansion or patch. The Caverns of Time is hidden away in a corner of Tanaris and, since it's not officially open, it's not a place you can run in and out of like the wind. Nevertheless, flaws do exist, and a flaw in the world allowed Tarandor to take us on one of three trips The One was to make.
On the second and third trips, we took friends. One trip was with Notswifty, Elsheindra, Shinytoaster and Kalak. That's where we took the group photos. The other photos are from one of the earlier trips.

RadioEin™ Plays the 80s - A Night To Remember
Last changed: Oct 02, 2006 05:15 by Elsheindra Labels: radioein, story, onemusic
It all started on Saturday evening, when Elsheindra popped online and said, "A-ha!", prompting Kalak to comment that had been a good 80's band. This led to a general reminiscence for a bit and left Ein, apparently, with the sublimina desire to watch Miami Vice, which she did the next day.
On Sunday evening, she mentioned that she'd been watching Miami Vice and blamed it on the conversation of the previous evening. Miami Vice is famous for having first, in a major way, integrated modern music into episodes and for being a fashion icon of the 1980s. Somehow that conversation caused Schnurbart, Rianna, Silverwind and Kariandra to try to come up with some good 80's bands, but they were struggling. With the exception of the Police and Sting, the best they could do was Michael Bolton and New Kids on the Block. Yech!
Luckily, they were saved by Mr. Cool himself, Kalak. He appeared and listed off a wealth of artists and bands along with Shinytoaster, which started Kalak and Elsheindra musing once again about great 80's tracks and Elsheindra fired up RadioEin™. RadioEin™ then proceeded to stream, with commentary and track announcements via Guild chat, a selection of 46 tracks. Many of the artists were ones suggested by Shinytoaster and Kalak, but the Ein put together the actual song list.
Much enjoyment was had by Kalak, Elsheindra, Shinytoaster, and Schnurbart with Kanine (from Roses of Dawn) making a guest listening appearance on the radio stream.
Valetta and Kariandra, too busy sleeping apparently, missed out on some great tunes. Just for them, here's a list of what was played.

Some of the dates aren't in the 80s. That's because the tracks came from a compilation or anthology album where I haven't put in the correct track release dates yet. However, with the exception of one track (can you find it?), all the tracks are bonafide 80's tracks!
It was a lot of fun talking about music and playing it. If you missed out, sorry! Maybe you'll catch another RadioEin™ streamed broadcast another day. (-:

D.I.E. has died
Last changed: Oct 05, 2006 11:36 by Elsheindra
This just in from the World of Warcraft Thunderhorn realm forum: Divine Insane Entities (D.I.E.) has disbanded.
For those of you relatively new to the guild, you might not know the Celestial, the G.M. of D.I.E. was, up until July of last year, an officer of The One. She left to form Divine Insane Entities, hoping to build a friendly, large guild capable of doing end-game content. She succeeded in building a large guild and, if you read the comments that people are leaving on the WoW Forums and on D.I.E.'s web site, it sounds like she succeeded at building something friendly. It's somewhat sad to see this disbandment, given that Celestial shared many of the same ideals as I did.
Smooth sailing and commiserations, oh you Insane people.

I'm away
Hi everyone!
I'm not sure when I will be back on line at present I am having a bit of trouble with my pc and so I am having to load up into safe mode and scan disk and defrag both of my hard drives. so far, I've done this with my smaller drive, now I need to do it with the bigger one.
Being as the pc is rather slow and unwilling it takes considerable time for it to compleat these tasks. So not sure when I will be back on with everyone, but I will be back of that you can be certain

Sayge´s Fortune
I have put down a small list over the fortunes you can get at the Fair.
Hope you like it...
#1 Never eat beef with a tauren.
#2 You will find something wonderful tomorrow
#3 An enemy from your past will soon become an ally.
#4 You will be fortunate in everything you put your hands to.
#5 Someone is speaking well of you.
#6 Be cautious when landing in unfamiliar territory.
#7 Avoid taking unnecessary gambles.
#8 You will receive a fortune.
#9 Your first love and last love is self-love.
#10 Rest is a good thing, but boredom is its brother.
#11 Those with simple taste are always satisfied with the best.
#12 Let not the tides of war wash you away.
#13 You leave your adversaries speechless.
#14 You have a good eye for spotting hypocrisy.
#15 One learns most when teaching others.
#16 The time will soon come for you to make a choice in a pressing matter.
#17 Never punt a gnome without due cause.
#18 Accept the next proposition you hear.
#19 The forsaken are up to something.
#20 Many a false step is made by standing still.
#21 Divine shields and heartstones do not make a hero heroic.
#22 And answer in blue is always true.
#23 Your fortune awaits you in Eastvale.
#24 Your fortune awaits you inside the Deadmines.
#25 Your fortune awaits you inside Wailing Caverns.
#26 Time is nothing; timing is everything.
#27 Your fortune awaits you outside Palemane Rock.
#28 Hunters who specialize in survival are not guaranteed to survive.
#29 Look out!

Swiftsong's Leave of Absence
Alas, I must take a leave of absence from WoW. I am simply unable to use a computer for more than a few hours a day because of repetitive strain injury.
I know some of you think those few hours should be spent playing WoW.
This has come about as a result of many, many months of working full time during the day (on the computer), working part time during the evening and weekends on a programming project (a time tracker: http://www.officetime.net) and much of the remaining time in WoW. Result: an armed uprising of my limbs.
I previously thought I was getting better and started working more and even playing WoW a little and got noticeably worse as a result. Thus I'm on a computer minimal diet for some months to come.
My heart wants to continue playing with all my dear friends and colleagues in The One.
Until my return...
/me sings a song of adventures won and lost, friendships founded and a world discovered
Binky raises a paw, a slight <gaWwooorph> is audible. He stares up with moist, black eyes.

Recent Officer Changes
Last changed: Oct 14, 2006 11:45 by Elsheindra Labels: news
We've had some promotions and some leavetakings recently, causing our officer roster to change somewhat. First, the bad news. Swiftsong (L60 Hunter), officer and co-founder of the guild, will be taking a leave of absence, due to repetitive stress injury-like symptoms in his arms and wrists. Sonarakbadak (L60 Hunter), officer and beloved drunken dwarf, went on hiatus at the beginning of the summer to train for a competition. Although he's been seen on and off since then, it's been more off than on. We're hopeful he'll come back as he'll be sorely missed.
There is good news, though! We've seen the return of two former officers. Schnurbart (L60 Warrior) is back with more dancing, jumping, and pink gnome cuteness than you thought there could ever be. His return coincided with the return (as an officer) of Valetta (L60 Mage), one of the guild's charter members. For Val, there's no better time than now to be herbaling or house renovating.
Your current officer team is:
- Elsheindra (L60 Druid) as Guild Mistress of Mayhem
- Kariandra (L60 Warrior) as Social Activities Officer
- Schnurbart (L60 Warrior) as Master of Initiates and GIS Activities
- Shinytoaster (L60 Paladin) on the Night Shift
- Valetta (L60 Mage) as Sanity Officer

Hide and Go Peek!
I had an E-mail the other day from a Deadbeat of the <endless> a Horde guild on Amun'Thul.
He had been looking for a way to get all the people of all levels in the guild to get together and interact with each other.
He had been thinking about running a hide and seek event and did a web search and this site caught his eye.
He wanted to know the 'rules of play' so I gave him an explaination an he wrote back to thank me for my time.
I'm hoping to hear what happened with his Hide and Seek event when he has run it.
Hide and Seek seems to be very popular!

Sucked into The Dark Portal
Last changed: Oct 19, 2006 08:44 by Schnurbart Labels: comingsgoings, burningcrusade, pictures
After much tinkering with strange gnomish inventions I managed to open a warp/space rift that sucked me to another dimension called "Tempest Keep". It's a new and exciting place filled with blood elves, draenei, a Dark Portal that works and other mindboggling stuff. So you might not see a silly gnome wearing a pink dress the next weeks as often as you did prior to my warp/space accident.
I did bring my newest invention, the VisualCaptureGnomePlus, so I should be able to bring back photos of this odd place. If you have any particular requests do say so.
Update 18th of October
Valetta asked me to write down my first impressions about the Burning Crusade, so here's what I found out so far:
- Enchanting has changed a bit, now you need a certain skill in Enchanting to disenchant an item. Seems like you need about 125-150 skill to disenchant a Level 40-50 item and so on. No more bank alts working as disenchanters which is good news for the "real" Enchanters.
- PvP has gotten quite a makeover. Not being a PvP'er myself I haven't found out of much but you can judge from the screenshots.
- There's a new LFG tool but I reckon most of us never will use it anyway, since we always can ask guildies, allied guilds or friends.
- The new instances can be set to Normal or Hard difficulty by the party leader. The mobs become tougher on Hard mode but drops better loot. This way it becomes worthwhile doing a lower level instance, clever.
- The Blood Elves and Draenei have a higher polycount and thus look way better and more graceful. The male Draenei is a bit blocky for my taste but I guess that's just a matter of personal opinion. I'm not sure what the other races have against gnomes but some of the new voice emotes are not very nice towards them.

- The new starting areas have some great quests and are quite funny. I've only tried out the Draenei one so far but my friends tell me it's the same case with the Blood Elves. The quest items and gear you get at low levels are actually quite good looking too! No more ugly worn shortswords etc. Sorry Xert!

- The Quest Log can now accomodate 25! quests, yay.
- They've cut down on the key ring spaces, a L60 keyring only has 8 slots now but I don't think that will be a problem.
- 4 more bank slots, very useful!
Also posted a whackload of screenshots since a picture says more than a thousand words.
Feel free to request screenshots or ask a question about anything and I'll put GIS on the case.
Update 19th of October
- Seems like you get new skills every level between 60 and 70.
- Hard to judge how long it will take to level up since xp gain has been accelerated in beta. The same has probably happened with reputation, since I did a standard yellow difficulty quest yesterday that rewarded me 500 Darnassus & 250 Exodar reputation. I reckon Blizzard doesn't want the testers to waste time on xp or rep grinding.
- New totem models for shamans, new and sparkly Hunter's Mark arrow thingy.
- Auto-switch to ranged weapon when mobs are fleeing.
- Heard a rumour about an engineering made mailbox that lasted for 5 minutes, like the repair bot. Very handy if it's true!
Downloading a quite large patch for the beta now, so they've probably added and changed quite a bit. Hoping that I don't have to relearn talents/skills, since it costed me 25g the first time, heh.
Horde Air Cavalry Invade Stormwind!
Just a couple of snaps of the random bug in Stormwind
What to do when Thunderhorn is down...
I found this list randomly earlier and although this list is for what to do when your ISP is down, I thought it could apply to WOW being down as well
The link is http://www.keepersoflists.org/index.php?lid=6094#anchor
I thought it was rather humourous
I'm not sure if i did the link thing properly so apologies if it's not.
Extended Thunderhorn Downtime
It's sad but true. Thunderhorn will be down for extended maintenance until Thursday around 17:00 Game Time. See the original info message. Rumour has it, though, that the Test Server for the beta testers isn't down, so maybe we'll see some more pictures. <Hint><Hint>
