After much tinkering with strange gnomish inventions I managed to open a warp/space rift that sucked me to another dimension called "Tempest Keep". It's a new and exciting place filled with blood elves, draenei, a Dark Portal that works and other mindboggling stuff. So you might not see a silly gnome wearing a pink dress the next weeks as often as you did prior to my warp/space accident.

I did bring my newest invention, the VisualCaptureGnomePlus, so I should be able to bring back photos of this odd place. If you have any particular requests do say so.

Update 18th of October

Valetta asked me to write down my first impressions about the Burning Crusade, so here's what I found out so far:

  • Enchanting has changed a bit, now you need a certain skill in Enchanting to disenchant an item. Seems like you need about 125-150 skill to disenchant a Level 40-50 item and so on. No more bank alts working as disenchanters which is good news for the "real" Enchanters.
  • PvP has gotten quite a makeover. Not being a PvP'er myself I haven't found out of much but you can judge from the screenshots.
  • There's a new LFG tool but I reckon most of us never will use it anyway, since we always can ask guildies, allied guilds or friends.
  • The new instances can be set to Normal or Hard difficulty by the party leader. The mobs become tougher on Hard mode but drops better loot. This way it becomes worthwhile doing a lower level instance, clever.
  • The Blood Elves and Draenei have a higher polycount and thus look way better and more graceful. The male Draenei is a bit blocky for my taste but I guess that's just a matter of personal opinion. I'm not sure what the other races have against gnomes but some of the new voice emotes are not very nice towards them.
  • The new starting areas have some great quests and are quite funny. I've only tried out the Draenei one so far but my friends tell me it's the same case with the Blood Elves. The quest items and gear you get at low levels are actually quite good looking too! No more ugly worn shortswords etc. Sorry Xert!
  • The Quest Log can now accomodate 25! quests, yay.
  • They've cut down on the key ring spaces, a L60 keyring only has 8 slots now but I don't think that will be a problem.
  • 4 more bank slots, very useful!

Also posted a whackload of screenshots since a picture says more than a thousand words.
Feel free to request screenshots or ask a question about anything and I'll put GIS on the case.

Update 19th of October

  • Seems like you get new skills every level between 60 and 70.
  • Hard to judge how long it will take to level up since xp gain has been accelerated in beta. The same has probably happened with reputation, since I did a standard yellow difficulty quest yesterday that rewarded me 500 Darnassus & 250 Exodar reputation. I reckon Blizzard doesn't want the testers to waste time on xp or rep grinding.
  • New totem models for shamans, new and sparkly Hunter's Mark arrow thingy.
  • Auto-switch to ranged weapon when mobs are fleeing.
  • Heard a rumour about an engineering made mailbox that lasted for 5 minutes, like the repair bot. Very handy if it's true!

Downloading a quite large patch for the beta now, so they've probably added and changed quite a bit. Hoping that I don't have to relearn talents/skills, since it costed me 25g the first time, heh.

Nagrand - a lovely nature place quite like STV

People are too busy playing to farm their own materials so prices are silly

Zangarmarsh - a pretty funky mushroom place   Map of Azeroth showing new islands

New login screen   Draenei starting video

PvP items are bought with tokens from the battlegrounds instead of requiring Rank and gold   Outland and Azeroth maps

The Honor tab has been changed to PvP

    New Enchanting Formula

I did enter a PvP arena in Nagrand but it was empty at the time - lucky for me!   The female Draenei dance

Netherweave is a common drop from humanoids just like Runecloth etc so dont waste your gold on 18-slot bags in the standard game!   Hellfire Peninsula looks quite odd for sure!

Epic Draenei Mount in Shattrath City   Seems like PvP teams are a bit like guilds

Handy item but the name is way long, probably a placeholder of some sorts

    New Leatherworking Pattern

Exodar - Draenei capital - very sparkly and hi-tech!   Wimsy and her new end talent (Demonology) tank/warrior pet, the Felguard

Exodar - The Vault of Lights - like a museum with guided tours and all   Druid Tree Form - I'm a lumberjack and that's okay...

The Draenei island   Map of Exodar

Druid tree form looks great! What can you do exactly in druid tree form? I'm liking the new login screen

Tree of Life, requires 40 points in Restoration Talents. 20% slower movement while in Treeform, healing increased by 25% of total Spirit, can only cast Swiftmend and healing over time spells but mana cost is reduced by 20% for these spells.

Subject to change before retail hits the streets.

Yay! Thank you very much Schnur!

Oh, by the way (as you said we can request screenshots), can you make a picture of BC PvP rewards? That'll be awsome. Also, does the tooltip for the PvP Mounts say how fast they are? (Hopefully faster than an epic mount)

Thanks

From what I recall the pvp mounts had the usual epic speed of 100%. The vendor at the Officer's Barracks didn't seem to have anything new, alas. I guess I'll have to track down the Arena vendor if they've putten it in yet.

A PvP team charter costs 50 gold so I reckon they are for serious people.

Blizzard should do a LFG interface for guild only. From the pictures and features, I wonder who isn't going to get BC. Definite disadvantages if you don't.

I reckon we'll have to continue using GEM for that, ST.

Seems like Burning Crusade green items at L60 are on par with some standard WoW L60 epics... Unless they change things a lot from beta to retail people will only do instances like Stratholme, Blackrock Spire, Scholomance, Dire Maul, Zul'Gurub, Ahn'Qiraj, MC, BWL and Naxx for a giggle and to try out content that might only have been raidable before. The usual instance progression will now be Sunken Temple > BRD > one of the above L55+ instances > first wing of Hellfire Citadel (Hellfire Ramparts).

An engineering-made mailbox would be indeed handy, unless it costs a fortune to make. At least with the repairbot, you can get your armour repaired as well as sell items. :-P

Looks very shiny! I can't wait to get it!
