Armory

Check out the new Armory-database, loads of handy info on guilds, characters, arena stats and so on. It's still in beta so errors are frequent. Here's our guild:

http://armory.wow-europe.com/#guild-info.xml?r=Thunderhorn&n=The+One&p=1

Try clicking the "Guild Statistics" tab for fun info. 54% of the guild characters are female for an example. And apparently we have a very well-balanced guild classwise.

THB - Raid Role & Loot Rule Agreement Lists
Last changed: Dec 06, 2007 05:14 by Elsheindra
Labels: thboldrules

Note: This requirement was obsoleted in December, 2007. No more lists are required. This page archived for historical reasons.

General

As part of the THB's recent raid/group looting rule reform, we agreed to create raiding specification lists for each guild. Inclusion on the list means you've stated to your THB representative what your preferred role (healer, tank, caster DPS, etc) in raids will be and that you've read and agreed to the current agreed upon THB raid rules so that you understand how that role affects when/where you should be allowed to roll on items in 5-mans and in raids.

These lists are maintained by one of your guild's THB representatives on GEM. Only people added to the GEM lists by their reps will be allowed to sign up as primary attendees for THB raids (raid leaders will consult the list) and that list will be used to arbitrate looting. Elsheindra periodically updates the web page from GEM so this page is not always the most accurate. The GEM list is definitive.

Classes On This List

You will notice that the icon used to represent your class on this list may not actually match your real class. In order to keep track of things in a sensible fashion, when you're added to a list, we assign classes in the following way:

Class on List Role Comments
Warrior Tanking Could be feral druids, protection paladins, protection warriors, enhancement shamans
Rogue Physical DPS Could be rogues, hunters, DPS warriors, Feral Druid, retribution paladins, enhancement shamans
Mage Magical DPS Could be mages, warlocks, balance druids, shadow priests, elemental shamans
Priest Healing Could be holy priests, restoration druids, holy paladins, restoration shamans

The Guilds

Click on the tabs to choose a list for a specific guild:

  • TO = The One
  • RoD = Roses of Dawn
  • SotW = Spirits of the Wolf
  • PL = Phoenix Legion
  • YoG = Ye Olde Geezers
  • CoE = Circle of Elders

THB - Raid & Group Looting Rules
Last changed: Dec 06, 2007 05:09 by Elsheindra
Labels: thbrules

General

This is the current in-use version of the Honourbound's looting rules for THB raids and group runs. If you are signing up to THB events, it will be assumed that you've read these rules and agreed to them.

LOOT

Loot will be based around a character's "Role." A role is not just "what you are doing in a given event" but how you actually want to be playing your character. To facilitate this, every person will be asked to think about the characters and what role they want to play as (categories are further down).

How Is Equipment Prioritised?

Part 1- Special Loot
This is for those insanely rare drops (e.g. Epic Mounts from bosses).

Everybody has equal rights to roll on this even though it will benefit some people more. This is because, while they have a function, they are also so rare that many people dream of them.

Part 2- (Raid Only) 1 Item of BoP Loot Per Run
If you have already won an item of loot in a given run then you are not allowed to roll for any more - unless everybody else in a given Role has already won something.
Please note that Primal Nether is excluded from the 1 BoP loot per run rule.

Part 3- Set Completion
If an item will complete a set that somebody already owns (be it a 2-part set or an 8-part set) then that person has priority. If multiple people need it for completion, rolling applies between the people who are looking to complete that set.

Part 4-Armour/Weapons
Armour:

  • Cloth: balance druids/mages/warlocks/priests first, afterwards other classes.
  • Leather: rogues/druids first, only then other classes.
  • Mail: hunters/shamans first.
  • Plate: warriors/paladins only.

(Raid Only) Weapons:

  • Ranged weapons : Hunters
  • Melee DPS Weapons : Melee DPS
  • Caster weapons : Casters as per stats.

Part 5-Stats-Based

  • Items with +damage/healing: dps caster first, if none of these needs, other casters (read healers)
  • Items with +healing: healers first, if none of these needs other casters.
  • Items with +defence: tanks first, if no one needs then melee physical DPS first.
  • Items with +attack power or lots of agility: phys DPS first, then tanks, then others.
  • Items with +melee crit: same as +attack power
  • Items with +melee crit/hit: same as +attack power but tanks are included in primary rolling
  • Items with +spell crit/hit: DPS casters first, then healers, then others.
  • Class-restricted loot: Categorised to a role as per this list. Characters not in that role get a secondary choice, not a primary.

Part 6-Raid Leader Decides
Event Leader (+ Master Looter if applicable) determines what category an item falls in to; it's rare for an item to just have 1 stat after all. Final say of the role category is the Event Leader's.

Items will only be sharded once we have exhausted all options of using an item.

Roles are the deciding factor, e.g. if healing cloth drops, a healing priest has priority over a healing pally (part 4 of the rules). That healing pally has priority over a shadow priest (part 5 of the rules).

Roles & Supporting Specifications
Role Supporting Spec
"Tank" Prot warrior, Prot Paladin, Feral Druid, Enhancement Shaman
"Phys DPS" Hunters, Rogues, Ret Pally, Arms/Fury Warr, Feral Druid, Enhancement Shaman
"Magical DPS" Mage, Warlock, Balance druid, Shadow Priest, Elemental shaman
"Healer" Holy / Disc Priest, Resto Druid, Holy Pally, Resto Shaman

WoW is a heavily gear-focussed system and it is possible to perform a role quite well without a supporting spec... once you have the gear for it. People therefore need to be sensible about their spec when they choose their role. Bear in mind that for the challenging content you will need to have spec AND gear working together.

Remember, you need to choose a preferred role in which you will get equipment priority, so e.g. Ferals will have to select a tank or DPS preference.

Ideally, as part of an event you will be performing your preferred role but this may change subject to overall requirements.

Since the new talent trees are still... err... new, some of this is also a bit finger in the air, e.g. does a Ret Pally actually count more as Magical DPS?

We will update these things once we have a clearer picture and at that point everybody will be updated.

"Unexplained no shows" and other infractions of rules will be dealt with by your guild and may result in your being placed on a THB banned from raiding or THB suspended from raiding list mirrored in GEM.

FAQ

When do these rules not apply?
If all of an event's members decide before the start of actually doing stuff, then they can go for whatever loot rules they want. The above is what is by default. If you agree amongst yourselves that something else applies - that's fine, you've agreed. If somebody gets swapped in / joins, they will also need to agree. If you change the rules, you get to do the work of making sure everybody understands the rules

"What about "normal" loot such as BoE greens etc?"
All BoE loot should be resolved using the built in Need or Greed system. Please only Need if you are of the correct Role / Class to use the item, otherwise Greed (or pass if you prefer)

But the list doesn't include x stat?
Stamina / Strength / Resilience / Weapon skill springing to mind, so do specialist ones like +ranged AP, +AP in bear/cat/moonkin form etc.

+Str does similar things to +AP, +AP is better for rogues / hunters, +Str better for other physical DPS.

Stamina is needed by all but primarily by the melee (tank & DPS).

Resilience is like stamina but we've not seen how that is distributed out on items.

Weapon Skill is not longer the make/break item for physical DPS.

Does such and such a class have priority over my class?
Class has no impact on your priority over other people in its own right but the loot rules are in order of priority. However, please think carefully before rolling as some things are better for some classes than others. (e.g. for a rogue, +AP is a far better thing in an item than +Str; for a druid the reverse applies). Something that will improve your gear until the next item comes along may actually be something somebody else will cherish for many months. (If you want a prime example, look up "Malfurion's Blessed Bulwark" on Thottbot. Any rogue rolling on that above a feral druid needs some education.)

What if I disagree with somebody deciding to roll?
Assuming somebody falls within a role, they have equal rights to roll with others in that role. Any disagreements need to be discussed (calmly & rationally) with the event leader & your guild's rep - AFTER the run completes. Where necessary, this will then lead to rule changes or additional explanations to a person/people about how things work (stat distribution / loot itemisation, etc.).

There is no explicit prioritisation by seniority, or by the fact that somebody is a regular attendee and somebody else attends once a month. Do, however, ask yourself before you roll if you will make enough use of the item to justify the effort that everybody has put in to getting it. Will you make good/full use of the item?

After all, a tanking druid has equal rights to roll on tanking weapons as other tanks, but is it good for the stats only, or does it also have a nice high speed / insane DPS?

There is no leaning on people during events (the event leader may ask you "are you sure?", that is just to get you to stop and think. Do not take this as leaning; do take it as an invitation to stop and think. If you don't know why you've been asked are you sure, ask for an explanation.).

If people think leaning should've happened, then this will have to be passed on to the guild's senior rep. If necessary there will some explanation / education to prevent problems from re-occuring. All of this will occur outside of events.

Other disagreements?
THB events are intended to be for enjoyment, this is a game after all. If somebody's behaviour means you are not enjoying yourself -
a) Remain polite back. Escalation helps nobody.
b) Let that person know that they have upset/offended you.
c) If it is something that was said, etc. - take screenshots.
d) If the problem is not resolved then and there - talk to your guild rep. Do so as soon after the event is complete as possible. Have a cup of tea or hot chocolate while you talk to your guild rep - we are all human and do not work at our best while upset / angry. Anger, Fear Upset, the dark side they are

ATTENDANCE

All raid events will be arranged via GEM. It is your responsibility to keep an eye on GEM and see what events are there. Group events can be arranged either via GEM, or by asking in the GEM channel to see if anybody is out there who can help.

Please remember that signing up to an event in GEM is a commitment and that other people are now relying on your being there for their evening of fun.

  • If you would like to attend but are uncertain you can make it - sign up as a replacement.
  • If your circumstances change, unsubscribe from the event (or move yourself to the replacement queue).
  • If, on the night in question, you get invited out for some drinks by some work colleagues... please apologise when next online. Let people know that you hadn't forgotten but that something else turned up.
  • If you are online but in a different group at the time - remember that unsubscribe thing, or else let the group know in advance that you will have to leave at x time. If you'll be 15 minutes late because you are almost at the Baron (or whatever), let the event leader know. While this won't guarantee that you keep your spot it at least keeps people informed (after all, is it fair that 19 people have to wait quarter of an hour for you when somebody else on the subs list would get things going). Where possible we will try to cater for reasonable lateness. We are human and understand that RL / the game throws us curve balls at times.
  • Basically - remember that this is arranging things for groups of people, so do your best to be polite and fair to everybody.

We will be maintaining a list of people who are regular unexplained no-shows or otherwise in breach of rules.

  • It is the unexplained bit that is the main factor, not the no show.
  • If that ends up being you, please don't be surprised if you end up bumped from the primary list to the subs to make room for somebody who does make the effort to keep people informed.
  • You will be added to such a list by your guild's senior THB raid representative and not by THB raid leaders.
  • This list can be viewed in GEM.

There is a separate blacklist.

  • This is reserved for people whom we do not want to see on our events at all (sometimes temporarily, sometimes permanently). This will generally be because they have left / been kicked from guilds or have otherwise contravened their guild's rules.
FAQ

I signed up but I forgot / didn't expect to get a spot.
When looking on GEM, if the attendees numbers for an event are not in white/grey, then you have signed up to that event in some way. Please make an effort to keep an eye on things, there are many of you and only one event leader.

The attendees lists do change a lot, often at the actual time of the event when the leader logs in and GEM updates.

If you are a primary or a sub, please make an effort to be online, or else say when next online what was up. Raid leaders have no way of telling if people signed up as subs, subs just move silently to become primary spots.

Replacements have already said at sign up time that they may not make it; that is all that is needed. They remain as replacements on the GEM list and the event leader can see this.

I can't run GEM, help!
Send an in-game mail to the person who owns the event in order to be added. Do not send it less than 24 hours before the event. Since being added by mail can be a slow process, do this as early as possible! Keep in mind that just because you've sent the letter, doesn't mean you'll get a spot - even if there where spaces when you sent it. It's when the event owner actually gets a chance to read that letter that matters and when you will get added manually.

GEM is a useful tool, but we also need to rely on people behaving fairly and thinking for themselves. We can't remind everybody in an event that they need to be online, you need to be responsible for your own behaviour.

ADMIN / Useful Info

Events are owned by the event leader. Admin of a guild's members is down to that guild's representatives. Other representatives are there to help if the senior rep is away/offline, but are unlikely to be able to change any lists.

Each guild is responsibly for ensuring that its members have read / understood / agreed to abide by all of the above. Each guild determines how they classify / deal with unexplained no-shows.

Any "banned from THB" activity is performed by the guild's senior representative of that member.

The underlying principle behind all of these, is that we need all of you, the members of Honourbound, to think and to be fair. We all want to see the various bosses beaten, to experience new instances, etc. We all need to remember that a lot of work & practice goes in to getting there.

We all know that there are people who understand the game better than we do... if in doubt, please talk to them, improve your understanding of how stuff works. If they point you at a forum post on the subject, please take the 5 or 10 mins to read it rather than getting that person to wear their fingers down to the bone explaining something to you that 20 other people have already asked them.

Version History

  • December 2007: Removed requirement to keep lists of roles by each guild. Removed information about separate role channels as these were never implemented.
  • May 2007: Incorporates change that balance druids get first dibs on DPS cloth due to lack of balance leather in L70 instances.
  • March 2007: First release of rules.

  • Notes collated from Shekin's notes & Hilbert's chat log, but summarised by Elsheindra (The One, THB Co-Coordinator).
  • Meeting Date: March 4th, 16:00 - 18:00ish Game Time

Attendees

  • Co-Coordinators
    • Elsheindra (THB Co-Coordintor, Senior Rep. for The One)
    • Basil (THB Co-Coordinator, Senior Rep. for Roses of Dawn)

  • Athena Airways
    • Athena (Athena Airways, Senior Rep. – first half)
  • Illidans Redemption
    • Squishiest (Illidans Redemption Senior Rep.)
    • Fladnag (Illidans Redemption – last half)
  • Phoenix Legion
    • Twolf (Phoenix Legion Senior Rep.)
  • Roses of Dawn
    • Basil (Roses of Dawn Senior Rep.)
  • Spirits of the Wolf
    • Hilbert (Spirits of the Wolf Senior Rep.)
  • The One
    • Elsheindra (The One Senior Rep.)
    • Shekin (The One – first half)
    • Shinytoaster (The One – last half)

Looting Rules

  • Phoenix Legion, The One, Roses of Dawn, and Spirits of the Wolf all in agreement with the draft rules as posted.
  • Set bonuses suggested as being unimportant. Final decision was to allow priority to people needing the last item of a set over other eligible players. This is the only case of favouring people.
  • Raid rules to apply to 5-person groups as well as to raids. However, it was suggested that the rules are more aimed at level 70 instance groups than leveling groups. The default shall be to use these THB rules unless the players themselves agree to something else at the beginning of the run.
  • Add raid rule about one item (BoP, mostly for boss loot) to rules, with standard common sense caveats about avoiding sharding, etc.
  • Agreement between some attendees that hybrid classes and others sometimes need off-spec equipment.
  • Senior raid representatives to create GEM role list for their guild. Inclusion of people in the list signifies that they've agreed to a stated role (healer, caster DPS, tank, etc) and have agreed to the posted final THB rules. Raid leaders will use this list as the definitive list for determining looting. Changes to a person's specification must be made via their THB raid representative who will update the list. Changes cannot be made at a raid. Elsheindra will mirror the GEM raid lists to the One web site (THB Info page).
  • Prioritisation on weapon drops for raids only: agreed that hunters get first right of refusal on ranged, other physical DPS on melee weapons, caster on caster stat. weapons.
  • Broken rules will be dealt with by raid leader informing person's THB rep. That includes players missing out in raids that they've signed up for, unresolved looting violations, etc. That person's guild is responsible for meting out punishment, which may include placing person on a raiding suspension (permanent or temporary). That might mean removing a person from the raiding role list (maybe bump them to "replacement" so that you don't lose their info) or placing them on the "banned" list.
  • Raid leaders should not take players on suspension or banned from raiding.

Post-TBC Raiding

  • Current situation is that Onyxia (40-person) is easy with many attuned; Naxxaramas (40-person) is challenging and not as many are attuned; and much 5-person work needed to get attuned for 10-person Karazhan raids.
  • Squishiest (Illidans Redemption) suggested there being merit in getting people through MC, BWL, etc. to get them experience. While this was recognized as being desirable, the gear (except for Naxx) doesn't make it worthwhile and it was doubted that sufficient people could be gathered for these kind of runs.
  • It was suggested by Elsheindra (The One) that we tackle some of the 25-person Onyxia style TBC instances like Gruul/Magtheridon. Rumour had it that they should be doable in level 70 instance blues. Hilbert (Spirits of the Wolf) reports these are hard instances with guilds like Caelum etc. only just now bragging about having done it first. It probably needs gearing up from Karazhan.
  • Tasanala (Illidans Redemption) would like to continue running Onyxia raids, which is fine.
  • Shinytoaster (The One) suggests train raid leader runs. People happy to lead raids/learn to lead: Trovlard (The One), Tasanala (Illidans Redemption), Fladnag (Illidans Redemption).
  • Elsheindra (The One) suggested "raid special events", where every second month or so we have a special raid week, where people run consecutive days to do AQ20, Naxx, etc. Modified that to be monthly but run by different people.
  • Fladnag (Illidans Redemption) suggested changing leaders occassionally, to give us a greater number of leaders. This would also give the current leader someone to focus training on.
  • Elsheindra (The One): Encourage people unhappy about lack of raiding/events to create/run events. "If you wanna fish, cut bait!"
  • Schedule another meeting in two months to re-visit raid situation.

Other Issues

  • Setting up a separate THB site: At this point, not believed necessary, although Elsheindra (The One) does have Honourbound.org domain name reserved and a vague plan to link all THB Info pages currently on The One site to the new site at some point in the far future.
  • Non-THB people in THB raids: Never get priority but can be used to fill gaps if no THB people available. They must be aware of THB rules and agree to abide by raid leader's decisions. Raid leader is responsible for them.
  • Non-THB alternates are permitted on GEM channel but should not be signed up to THB events via GEM. A raid leader may ask them to swap to a non-THB alternate if that's what's needed to get the raid going or is needed. Some education needed here as we have some people this applies to, like Wibblefish & Tatonka.

Final Decisions

  1. Give priority on set items to people working on last item in the set.
  2. Looting rules apply to 5-person groups by default.
  3. Add rule about "one item per run" for BoP boss loot in raids to looting rules.
  4. Senior raid representatives to create GEM role list for their guild, all dated December 31st, 2008. Guild name field for a given character to be added with their role (Healer, Caster DPS, Physical DPS, Tank) in it. People added to such lists are assumed to have agreed to THB looting rules. They need to contact their raid role list maintainer to get their specification changed. It cannot be changed during a raid or by a raid leader. Elsheindra to mirror guild role lists to THB info pages on The One site (completed – see THB - Raid Role & Loot Rule Agreement Lists)
  5. Prioritisation on weapon drops for raids only: hunters get first right of refusal on ranged, other physical DPS on melee weapons, caster on caster stat. weapons.
  6. Elsheindra/Basil (The One/Roses of Dawn) to create a "suspended" from raiding THB list that works the same as the "banned" from raiding list, where the master list is on The One site and manually updated in GEM. (completed)
  7. Encourage a Karazhan leader per guild and run Karazhan raids on different nights, starting with 2 attunement instance run nights. Each guild should post copies of the Attunement Guides in their forums (see http://hilbert.wordpress.com/tbc-attunement-chart/).
  8. Tasanala (Illidans Redemption) to continue running Onyxia runs on Wednesday evenings. Sundays/Tuesdays set aside for Karazhan runs.
  9. Each month to have "raid week" (if leader available) where consecutive runs made to a raid dungeon over several nights in a given week.
  10. Encourage people unhappy about lack of raiding/events to create/run events. "If you wanna fish, cut bait!"
  11. Non-THB people/Non-THB alternates: Non-THB people should not be in THB channel or signing up via GEM. They can be used to fill gaps in raids if no THB people available. They must agree to rules and raid leader is responsible for their behaviour. Non-THB alternates are permitted on GEM channel but should not be signed up to THB events via GEM. A raid leader may ask them to swap to a non-THB alternate if that's what's needed to get the raid going or is needed.
  12. Next meeting in two months (early May) to re-visit raiding situation.

Looking for Alchemist Help
Last changed: Mar 19, 2007 17:54 by Kalak

Kalak is 70!

... Or at least he will be by the time you read this. I plan to finish his last three bars of experience this evening (Tuesday morning).

Since I am an Armoursmith, I get to craft an exclusive armour for myself which I can wear at 70, the Breastplate of Kings. http://www.thottbot.com/i28483

I have all the mats required so far, except for the Primal Mights, of which I will need eight.

I have been collecting the various motes on my journeys and so far have all of the needed earth, fire, life and shadow primals. However, I still need more water, air and mana motes.

Since I have plenty of fire and earth from mining, I am hoping that some of you are able to do the transmute from Fire to Mana and from Earth to Water. If you can please contact me in-game or leave a message here.

I am ready to start sending people the mats for Primal Mights now, so please let me know if you can make these and I'll mail them to you.

Any donations of water, air or mana motes would be accepted and appreciated.

Much thanks for any help you can provide!

Alchemy Mastery

I thought I would ask for some input on this subject. I am now at the stage where I can pick to specialise in one of:

Master of Potions
Master of Elixirs
Master of Transmutes

Now they all have their positives and negatives but I simply cannot decide which to go for! Which would benefit everyone the most is really what Im trying to ask!

Thanks,
Geoff
