I am in the same position - am tempted to go Elixir I think. Transmute is interesting but I don't really do enough of them to make it worth it.

I had this discussed with Elsh months ago.
It would be wise that we all choose a different one, to the best benefit of the guild.
But havn't heard anything since. Maybe we can discuss again tonight at guild meeting.

Well, we're probably all in the same position. I started the Quest for the Elixirs one but I'm not sure how useful it will be. I did manage to collect all the pieces I needed from the Black Morass, though, which I'm guessing will be common to all of the Alchemy Master quests.

What did people decide to do in the end?

My tribe will be mostly needing potions and transmutes. But as the mats for transmutes are expensive and yet not very prospected, Ingske probably will go for mastering the transmutes.
