Blizzard silently made some kind of update to the way guild and private channels (like the Honourbound channel) work on Tuesday afternoon. You may have noticed that periodically you'll type something and it doesn't get sent. It may take two or three or more tries before it will go and the ones sent before that just never arrive. This bug impacts the way GEM works. Your GEM mod communicates with other GEM mods using the Honourbound channel. You don't see it because the mod filters out the content that's designed just for its own use. The GEM mod probably sends/receives more information on the THB channel than you do. When information is lost, it doesn't know to resend it. As a result, GEM lists are getting mucked up as information is being exchanged and lost. There's nothing we can do ourselves to fix this. It's not a GEM bug. It's a Blizzard bug. I will post a Technical Support forum thread about it as I haven't seen one to date, although the problem seems fairly widespread.
To easily resend content you've sent yourself:
- press <enter> to re-enter the chat line interface
- press <alt><up-arrow> to retrieve the last line you sent
- press <enter> to resend that line.
You can press <alt><up-arrow> multiple times to go back in your chat history.
I've done quite a bit more investigation into this since I wrote the original message. In the States, Blizzard has admitted that it's due to a kind of anti-spam chat throttle that they've applied to guild and private channels. They've also just added that it will be removed from guild and party channels and only applied to channels with more than 25 people.
Unfortunately, Honourbound has more than 25 people and, because of the cross-guild nature, cannot use the recommended new way for mods to communicate (SendAddOnMessage or what-have-you) as those only work in party, guild, battleground, raid, and, as of 2.1 patch, whisper channels.
The GEM author is aware of the problem. People are looking at quick fixes to how fast GEM is sending messages around and the author himself is in the middle of working on GEM 3 which will send fewer messages. GEM 3 will not be available for some time, though. I am keeping an eye on the modifications to GEM that people are trying. If anything actually looks like it's working for other people in a reasonable fashion, we may try it out with a small number of people on the Honourbound channel.
Ask your THB reps for more info as I'm posting information to them regularly.
