This week's 25-person run on Tuesday had to be cancelled because Cannon was only able to assemble 14 of the people on the rota for Tuesday evening. That meant there were 11 spots to fill. Some of the missing people he knew about in advance, but the majority he didn't.
We recognize that real life sometimes intervenes. However, if at all possible, if you're signed up for an event, whether because you're part of a team and automatically signed up or you've signed up yourself, please inform the event leader in advance of the event or use GEM to mark yourself as "not coming" if you're unable to attend for some reason.
In addition, we've had a few incidents of people signing up for events and then going off for a "better offer" at the last minute. That's not acceptable behaviour and could lead to losing raid spots or not being given them as you'll get a reputation for unreliability.
As a casual raiding alliance, we rely heavily on people making commitments and keeping to them in order to run our events and progress. Please do your part: make your commitments or do the responsible thing and let people know in advance.
I've talked a lot about Team DarkPinkCoal below, but the issue affects all raid teams. Please, everyone read it. Especially take note of the new let a raid leader know page.
Unbelievably, we had a bit of a repeat last night, although not quite on the same scale. One person, I believe had notified Cannonblast well in advance, a few people had notified various raid leaders on or around the day, but that still left several people unaccounted for. At 20:30 Game Time, we were missing 6 people. At 20:50, we were still missing 2. On a Tuesday night, with several other teams running, we just didn't have the resources to fill those empty slots.
Cannonblast, understandably, was quite upset. He'd logged in at 16:00ish Game Time to secure us a game instance, after we'd had trouble on several evenings. All that effort was wasted. Frankly, he was ready to throw in the towel on 25-person runs. If you can't be bothered to show up or you can't be bothered to tell someone in advance that you're not showing up, then he seemed to feel he couldn't be bothered to lead it and try to administer it. If you think about it, you'd probably feel fairly similar if it were you.
There is an impression amongst some people who do show up regularly that the nights we have trouble are nights where we expect to wipe a lot or not actually down many bosses. The suggestion is that some people are just along for the ride and, if something else turns up, their motivation to log in and wrack up a repair bill is low. If that's true, it's extremely disappointing. The understanding when Team DarkPinkCoal formed the 25-person was that everyone would endeavour to show up for all three nights unless there was something unavoidable.
Team DarkPinkCoal, as an example, has about 30 people on the attendance rotation list. That allows us to have up to 5 people missing. Thursdays have traditionally been a problem because several people have shift patterns that make them unavailable. By 20:30 game time, the raid's start, we were then missing 11 people: the 5 we can afford to be missing plus an additional 6 who hadn't arrived on time (or didn't arrive at all).
Sundays and Tuesdays should not be a problem. Again, let me reiterate that we understand that real life does intervene. However, I think now's a good time for each person to consider their commitment. If you're not willing or are unable to, because of work commitments, family, or other reasons, to wholeheartedly commit yourself to the three nights regularly, then please let your raid leader know so you can be replaced with someone who can.
If something in real life does happen unexpectedly, and we know it does, please let your raid leader know as soon as possible. Ideally, that should be by in-game message or by speaking to them in advance, but SMS messages, phone calls, forum postings, messages to guild leaders or other people are also possibilities. For those who have web access via phone or computer, I've created a page where you can let a raid leader know on shortish notice if you're going to be unavailable. We'd obviously prefer you to let people know several days in advance, but even on-the-day notice is better than no notice at all. That page will be stickied on the THB front page but you can/should also bookmark it.
In addition, the three raid leaders of Team DarkPinkCoal met and decided to fill in some gaps in their teams. Teams Pink and Coal had been running with some empty slots, for example. We will be filling those slots to be bringing all three teams up to full strength of regularly attending members. There will be more details at Thursday's run.
Usually, 7+ of Atomic Tangerine members are present at Thursdays as possible replacements for DarkPinkCoal (7 are The One members that attend Guild meeting, other 3 are usually online too). 5-6 are usually present Sunday and unsaved in the DarkPinkCoal content (25 man ICC).
Why the Coordinators and the Raid Leader of DarkPinkCoal keep ignoring most of the members of the fixed team with the best 10 man progression in THB, remains a mystery for me
I cannot demand explanation of course This is simply a note, if we are just forgotten. Again.
They're not being forgotten. There are two main issues:
Thursdays haven't been a problem lately, but Sundays and Tuesdays have been when they shouldn't be. We're clearing content rapidly on Thursdays and sometimes people have to take the night off. On Tuesdays/Sundays, where it will be more expensive and a lot harder, we're suddenly short of people. We checked last night but we couldn't pull any people from AT as it was running.
You haven't yet given us the list we asked for of people/positions and availability. So we don't know who they are or that they're interested. Keep in mind that we're short particular kinds of people, not just any people. For example, we're overly heavy on melee DPS, so need ranged DPSers. We're usually not missing tanks or healers, and not all tanks/healers have a DPS spec to swap to.
I haven't given the list, because the last decision of THB was that AT members will come ONLY as replacements, and not as a part of a rotation of any 25 man team. This makes the list not needed. Actually, following this decision, Zelphian asked if there are any free AT members for the so commented raid last Thursday, and took them first. Also, some issues with availability of THB members as titulars or replacements can be easily solved by someone actually posting DPK runs on GEM, as other raid leaders do. Pool or replacement players will always be available for the raid leader to pick from, and will save the browsing of availability lists.
Offtopic:
I still have the list for AT, and if a raid leaders meeting actually happens and I can attend it (which will not be possible again on 7th of February. It's my 30th birthday, and I will not be playing this evening (And Basil is informed of that)) I will provide the list if it's needed.
i know i had to give up my spot on darksins and darkpinkcoal back in oct when my work had me on 6am starts for the whole month, i just couldnt be raiding until 10:30/11:00 at night and still get up at 5am the next day, not 3 times in a week anyway.
if you cant make it to raids, thats fine, but dont say you will be there when u wont
