The One's raid team started out it's Cataclysm Raid Adventures with an adventure into Blackwing Descent, a new Blackrock Mountain based raid that picks up where Blackwing Lair left off. Literally in fact.
Our first venture inside brought us fairly swiftly face to face with Magmaw, a big firey version of the Crawlers from Hellfire Peninsula.
Breicor suggested that we all checked out the following guide for tactics purposes. and I decided it'd be handy to link it here, for easier reference. ![]()
NOTE - I didnt make this guide i'm just linking it from MMO-Champion for easy guild reference. I think it was an entry into a competition they ran. ![]()

After a number of wipes we instead we had the current off-tank aggro the mobs with multi-target threat abilities. The benefits were two fold, they didn't get to the raid (only one predictable person taking damage and gaining the debuff) and a target area for more focused AoE by ranged.
There are problems of course, the tank takes quite a lot of damage and thus will stress the healers more, also during the tank switch on Mangle from Magmaw the tank can still have adds on them which again is more incoming damage to be healed and mitigated (bearing in mind that tanks need to try and save their cooldowns for Mangle).

I saw an increase in average hits of about 20k with the armour debuff (so 65k instead of 45k).
The problem with this tactic seems to be that people can be munched by Magmaw as he comes back up from the spike. Having them slightly out of melee range seems to help a bit but other than that I had to make a target macro and hammer it as the boss comes up to try and get taunt on asap. Will be trying a taunt target macro next week to see if it helps but we still had people eating 100k Magmaw melee hits.
