General

Burn, baby, burn! And with these immortal words, we plan to set your WoW life on fire with a visit to the Blackrock Depths to become Attuned to the Core, Molten Core that is. Without your handy-dandy core fragment, you can't easily enter Molten Core. The actual quest is picked up from Lothos Riftwaker. He's the guy in the nook if you go straight instead of into the BRD instance area after coming down the chain.

You'll find the Blackrock Depths in the Blackrock Mountain zone, south of Searing Gorge.

Other quests:

  • L52 Dark Iron Legacy (p1) picked up from Franclorn Forgewright inside Blackrock Depths (Forgewright's Tomb) is part one of a two-part chain. You need to be dead to get this. We recommend removing your armour and jumping in the lava near the ramp. After you run back from the Graveyard, go talk to Franclorn Forgeright in Forgewright's Tomb – that's in area building in the middle of the spoke. He's a wisp. Talk to him a few times. Then resurrect yourself and talk to him again. This leads into L52 Dark Iron Legacy (p2).
  • L52 Dark Iron Legacy (p2) is the second part of a two-step chain, picked up from Franclorn Forgewright inside Blackrock Depths, and is the famous Shadowforge Key quest. He sends you on a quest to get the Ironfel hammer and kill Fineous Darkvire. The quest finishes when you reach the Monument of Franclorn Forgewright inside the Depths. It will probably take more than an hour to get there.
  • L52 Overmaster Pyron is step 1 of a two-step chain, obtained from Jalinda Sprig at Morgan's Vigil (Burning Steppes griffin point). Jalinda will ask you to slay Overmaster Pyron who is very near the Blackrock Depths instance portal. After returning to Jalinda, you can continue on with L56 Incendius!.
  • L53 Ribbly Screwspigot is the second part of two-step chain, following on from the L53 Yuka Screwspigot. For the first step, talk to Yorba Screwspigot in Steamwheedle Port (Tanaris). Yorba sends you on a journey to talk to Yuka. Yuka is not in the dungeon – she's north of the Ruins of Thaurissan, in the mountains there close to the Searing Gorge. When you find Yuka, she'll give you a quest to find brother Ribbly and bring his head back to Yuka. He's in the Grim Guzzler bar, inside the dungeon, surrounded by several cronies. This gives some green boots (cloth), shoulders (leather), or chest armour (mail).
  • L54 The Love Potion is a cute collection quest obtained from Mistress Nagmara, inside the instance in the bar with all the drunk dwarves (Grim Guzzler). You'll need an herbalist friend to get you the 4 pieces of Gromsblood required. You'll also need to spend some time killing monsters in Azshara (Cliff thingies) for the giant silver vein items. The last piece is some water from Golakka Springs Crater (Un'Goro). When you have all the ingredients, turn them back into her for either blue cloth bracers (34 +int/stam) or a blue leather belt (89 +str/stam/spir). In addition to the reward, this apparently will also open the back door of the dungeon to the Grim Guzzler somehow.
  • L54 Marshal Windsor is step 9 of a seventeen-step chain to get the key to Onyxia's Lair. Assuming you've done the previous eight steps, you'll probably need to then talk to Ragged John, an NPC near the graveyard/Horde Windrider in the Burning Steppes. He may not have a quest icon above his head, but he should give you a quest. Then talk to Marshal Maxwell in the mountains south of Dreadmaul Rock (close to Redridge Mountains) in the Burning Steppes. He will ask you to find Marshal Windsor in the dungeon. Marshal Windsor is imprisoned, so you'll need some prison cell keys. This then leads on to L54 Abandoned Hope.
  • L54 Abandoned Hope is step 10 of a seventeen-step chain to get the key to Onyxia's Lair, following on from L54 Marshal Windsor. Marshal Windsor, in the cell, sends you back to talk to Marshal Maxwell in the mountains south of Dreadmaul Rock (close to Redridge Mountains) in the Burning Steppes. While you're doing this, look out for a drop in the dungeon to the next step in the series, L58 A Crumpled Up Note.
  • L55 Hurley Blackbreath is step 2 of a two-step chain. You first need to do L55 Ragnar Thunderbrew, picked up from Enohar Thunderbrew in Nethergarde Keep (Blasted Lands) and then return to Ragnar Thunderbrew in Khararanos (Dun Morogh), the city just south of Ironforge. He'll give you the Hurley Blackbreath quest to obtain the lost Thunderbrew recipe from the Blackrock Depths. At the end, you have a choice of the green Swiftstrike Cudgel (32.5 dps one-handed mace) or green Limb Cleaver (42.7 dps two-handed axe with +str/sta). The bar, where the kegs are, is the Grim Guzzler. When you destroy the kegs, a whackload of nasties come into the room to attack you. Be careful!
  • L55 The Heart of the Mountain starts and ends with Maxwort Uberglint, in the mountains north of the Ruins of Thaurissan (Burning Steppes). In order to do this, you'll need 11 Relic Coffer Keys plus the main key.
  • L56 The Good Stuff is a collection quest in the Blackrock Depths obtained from Oralius at the Morgan's Vigil Griffin Point (Burning Steppes). As a reward, Oralius will give a dingy fanny pack containing one of a number of green armour items. Collect the Dark Iron Fanny Packs from Dark Iron Dwarves in the dungeon.
  • L56 Incendius! is step 2 of a two-step chain, continuing on from L52 Overmaster Pyron. Jalinda Sprig, at Morgan's Vigil (the Burning Steppes griffin point), will give you the quest to find Lord Incendius in the Blackrock Depths and destroy him. As a reward, this gives a choice of a green Sunborne Cape (36 +5spir), green Nightfall Gloves (91 leather with agi/str), green Crypt Demon Bracers (132 mail with +14 agi), or a green Stalwart Clutch (300 plate with +12 stam).
  • L58 A Shred of Hope is step 12 of a seventeen-step chain to get the key to Onyxia's Lair, following on from L58 A Crumpled Up Note, given out by Marshal Windsor. He wants you to collect a two pieces of information, one from each of the Blackrock Depths bosses: Golem Lord Argelmach and General Angerforge. Don't do this in a raid group. Return the information to Marshal Windsor, and then continue on to the L58 Jail Break.
  • L60 A Binding Contract is a quest to learn how to create the legendary Sulfurus (Hand of Ragnaros) two-handed mace. There are two ways to get this quest. The first is through a drop (to get the Thorium Brotherhood Contract) and then have a Sulfuron Ingot that Golemagg drops before speaking to someone in the bar (Grim Guzzler) who will trade you the purple mace plans for the ingot. The second is to have honoured status with the Thorium Brotherhood and speak to Lokhtos Darkbargainer in the Blackrock Depths (alcove near beginning of Blackrock Depths, just after coming down the chain from Forgewright's Tomb) who will give you the contract and the quest. At the conclusion of this quest, you get plans for a purple Sulfuron Hammer (two-handed mace). To make the orange legendary Sulfurus, you'll also need the Eye of Sulfurus, an item from the Molten Core.

Transportation

The fastest way is to fly to Thorium Point (Searing Gorge), then ride south, south, south.

Well the run seemed to go extremely well, it's nothing like as bad as I had thought beforehand. I'll happily take people back if they need to get attuned.

Oh and big thanks to Rianna and Muaa for pitching up when we had drop-outs.
