General
Karazhan is the first level 70 raiding dungeon in the Burning Crusade expansion. Unlike previous large raiding dungeons which required massive numbers of people, this is limited to only 10 people, but it's an exercise in intense concentration and it tolerates few mistakes.
This is a recurring Honourbound Alliance cross-guild venture into Karazhan, with multiple groups organized into teams that run each week. The instance resets on Wednesdays. As in Molten Core or Zul'Gurub, you're "locked" to the instance if you're there when a boss is killed.
Current Teams/Leaders/Days
Each team is composed of up to 10 permanent, fixed members who have been chosen by the raid leader. The current teams are:
Team Black (Mon/Thurs): – Retired
Gimlinox (PL) - Leader
Badgerboi (TO)
Cannonfodder (YOG)
Gimse (PL)
Jessicca (PL)
Timmyt (RoD)
Looting Rules
The Honourbound Alliance Karazhan runs are run using the current agreed upon THB raid rules from December 2007. If you're signed up, it's assumed you've read and agreed to those rules (or you may be shunted to the "substitutes" list).
Pre-Requisites To Get In
If you'd like to be added to a list of people to be considered for a team, please mail Wandjina in-game with your class, talent specification (holy, shadow, arms, affliction, etc), and the days/times you are available regularly for a group.
Fixed raid slots are filled by the raid leaders based on a number of different factors:
Gear/Specification
Skill
Appropriate raid mods
Gear/Specification:
The majority of your gear should be level 68 blues (or better), with appropriate enchantments and gems.
You need at least 6000 hit points unbuffed if you're a ranged class and significantly more if you're a tank (10,000+). This is because the Shade of Aran does massive burst damage that will take you out in almost a single hit. 7000+ is actually better.
You should have a PvE specification, as this includes aggro reduction.
Skill:
You should have completed at least part of a heroic instance as they're comparable in difficulty and the need for aggro management.
You should be competent at playing your class and able to produce appropriate amounts of damage/healing given your gear. Low healing or low DPS from even a single person can significantly hamper the progress of a group.
DPSers should be capable of a sustained DPS rate of 350, preferably 400. Healers should have at least +1000 heal. Tanks should be immune to critical strikes.
oRA2 or another CT_RaidAssist-compatible raid assistance system.
Even if you don't use these yourself, they're useful to the tanks, healers, and raid leaders for keeping track of what's going on. If you're a damage-dealing class, it's often important to know when you're out-aggroing the tank, so that's why a threat meter that shares information with other participants is required. Most of these can easily be found by typing in the name of the mod, warcraft, and download into Google, i.e. "omen warcraft download". Ask your raid leader or THB rep for assistance in choosing the right one or configuring/installing the mods.
Available Quests
A number of blue/purple class-specific armour reward quests for gloves and helms. All of these involve collecting tokens.
Rings as you gain XP with the Violet Eye
Chain involving Medivh.
Spaces Available
Although the groups are fixed, some days not all the fixed members will be able to make it. Raid leaders will list their events in GEM and you are invited to sign up as a replacement should people be missing that week. Sign up using GEM.
No GEM? Contact the appropriate raid leader (the first line of each of the teams listed above is the raid leader for that group). Note that each group runs on different days. Those are also listed with the teams above.
