The Deadmines (Moonbrook, Westfall) are home to a collection of nasty and evil rogues. Be brave, be bold. Go in and take hands, scarves, and heads! Good questing for all and a special paladin-only quest.
The Quests (By Level)
- L14 The People's Militia. Pick up from Gryan Stoutmantle at Sentinel Hill, in the Tower, in Westfall.
- L18 Collecting Memories. Pick up from Wilder Thistlenettle in the Dwarven District of Stormwind. You'll find her with the Explorers League in the south-eastern area of the Dwarven District. She also hands out the Oh Brother quest.
- L20 O Brother.... Pick up from Wilder Thistlenettle in the Dwarven District of Stormwind. You'll find her with the Explorers League in the south-eastern area of the Dwarven District. She also hands out the Collecting Memories quest.
- L20 Underground Assault. Pick up from Shoni the Shilent. She hangs around the square near the Deeprun Tram in the Dwarven District of Stormwind.
- L22 The Defias Brotherhood. Pick up from Gryan Stoutmantle, at the Sentinel Hill tower, in Westfall. This quest forms part of a series needed to later complete quests in the Stockade. Unfortunately, it's a mini-series in itself, which will send you running all over the place. See The Defias Brotherhood (p1), The Defias Brotherhood (p2), The Defias Brotherhood (p3), The Defias Brotherhood (p4), and The Defias Brotherhood (p5). Once you've done all this, you can then pick up the The Defias Brotherhood (elite) quest (AKA VanCleef) from Gryan Stoutmantle, at the Sentinel Hill tower, in Westfall. This quest forms part of a series needed to later complete quests in the Stockade.
- L22 The Unsent Letter. When you kill VanCleef, you find a letter on his body which needs to be delivered to Baros Alexston, the City Archiect in Stormwind. You'll find Baros Alexston in the City Hall, in the Cathedral District of Stormwind. This quest is required to pick up parts of the Stockade quests later.
Transportation
How to get there. See also our Transportation Links page for flightpaths and boat routes.
From Westfall: From Sentinel Hill, follow the road south until you come to a T-intersection. At the T, go west. You'll come to the city of Moonbrook. The mines are hidden in an abandoned farmhouse, owned by the Defias Brotherhood. Once in the farmhouse, you need to go up to the second level and then you'll see a path into the mine area.
Hints and Tips
Exploits
- March 4, 2005: Swiftsong (Hunter), Speedbaby (Paladin), Ayrton (Paladin), Shalia (Rogue), and Elsheindra (Druid) went back into the dungeon and completed most of the quests, including taking VanCleef's head. Not a single soul died. Excellent teamwork!
- March 1, 2005: Swiftsong (Hunter), Valetta (Mage), Dimage (Hunter), Specialvat (Druid), and Elsheindra (Druid) spent 3.5 hours in the dungeon and reached the big ship at the end. At that point, everything went crazy and everybody but Swiftsong ended up dead or outside the instance. We learned some valuable lessons
