Maraudon is newish instance added to World of Warcraft. If you're a cloth wearer, a staff user, or a bow user, these quests lead to some very nice blue and green items. Find Maraudon on the east side of Desolace, in the Valley of Spears.

The Quests (By Level)

• L42 Shadowshard Fragments. Pick up this collection quest from Archmage Tervosh in Theramore (Dustwallow Marsh). Rumour has it that he sometimes moves around as part of another set of quests, so he's not always in Theramore. Reward is a green neck pendant with either +10 intellect or +20 attack power. Fragments are picked up from elementals in front of the instance.

• L47 Twisted Evils. Another collection quest, picked up from Willow near Kormek's Hut (Desolace). Kormek's Hut is due south of Nijel's Point, just continue south past the road until you hit cliffs and go a little west.

• L47 Vyletongue Corruption. Collect this quest from Talendria near Nijel's Point (Desolace). You'll need to both fill a vial and kill some nasty plants. When using the vial on plants, you spray it and 2-4 monsters instantly appear. Fill your vial up at any orange pool you find. A green Woodseed Hoop (ring with intellect/stamina) or green gauntlets (plate) or agility enhanced green leather belt as rewards.

• L48 The Pariah's Instructions. Pick this up from the Centaur Pariah around the lake southwest of Mannoroc Coven (Desolace) near the bottom of the Desolace map. Read his instructions and collect the Amuelt of Union to win the Mark of the Chosen, a green trinket. You need to be at least neutral with the Centaur faction to pick this up.

• For rogues, L49 Legends of Maraudon is available. Pick up this quest from Cavindra and return to Celebras the Redeemed in Maraudon. Cavindra is located inside the fortress/cave leading into Maraudon. Celebras is deep within the "purple" instance.

• L51 Seed of Life, picked up from Zaetar's Spirit in Maraudon. It needs to be returned to Keeper Remulos in Moonglade. Moonglade is easy to get to if you're a druid. For others, you'll have to go through a tunnel in northern Felwood, connecting to Winterspring, and then take a left at a bridge to go into Moonglade.

• L51 Corruption of Earth and Seed is picked up from Keeper Marandis in Nijel's Point (Desolace). This quest awards a nice blue bow, staff, or one-handed sword.

Transportation

How to get there. See also Transportation Links for flight paths and boat routes.

From Nijel's Point: Head south of Nijel's Point along the road, past the fork heading east. The road will curve off to the west then. Follow it until there's a fork heading south. Just before the cliffs leading into the Kodo Graveyard, head west through the countryside. When you reach the mountains, follow their edge south until you find a break heading eastward. That should lead you into the Valley of Spears where Mauradon is located.

Hints and Tips

• A map of the instance compiled by someone else.
• It seems to be suggested that you can only do one of L48 The Pariah's Instructions or L51 Seed of Life. The second has the potential for a whack of XP (1200-6100), but the first has a trinket with a 2% chance of getting +25 to all your attributes.

Exploits

• July 24, 2005. Swiftsong (L49 Hunter), Elsheindra (L51 Druid), Dimage (L5x Hunter), Sonarakbadak (L42 Hunter), and Spuzzin (L5x Rogue) ventured through the entire orange section of Maraudon at a relatively leisurely pace. The poor druid bought it a few times as did many of the pets, but not a bad run. Sonarakbadak was particularly excellent, considering his lower level.
